Back-to-School Night - Thursday, September 12, 2019, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. is a parents only night.
Meet your child’s teacher and hear presentations from our principal, PTA, and DEAN’s.

Open House - June 4, 2020 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
All are welcome!

Lunch - Cafeteria lunch is available for K – 6th grade. Prepaid cards are available and are encouraged. They may be purchased in the school office or cafeteria (checks made out to NMUSD). To purchase with a credit card you must do so on-line. You will need your child’s SID number which is on their report card.

Please send sack lunches in the morning with students. Late lunch deliveries interrupt classroom instructional programs and distract your student while they are wondering if their lunch has arrived yet. You may not deliver lunch to your student in the parking lot or come on campus after school starts and put it in their backpack.
Late lunches must be left on the cart in front of MPR.

Deliveries to School - Forgotten lunches, homework, and other deliveries during school hours must be left in the school office. Classrooms cannot be interrupted to announce the arrival of a forgotten assignment, lunch or other items. For the delivery of birthday treats, please talk to your child’s teacher prior to the date and deliver the treats five minutes before the end of the school day. Parents may meet their child at the exit door of the classroom and pass out treats outside while the class sings “Happy Birthday.” Of course, healthy treats are strongly encouraged.

Absences - Please call the 24-hour absentee line at 515-6822 before 9:00 a.m. on or before the day of the absence or your student will be marked unexcused without notification.

If you need to pick up your child during the day, you must check-in and sign your student out in the front office. The office will contact his/her teacher to have your child come to the office for pick-up.
For safety and security purposes no one may enter the classroom from the outside doors.

Flag Deck - Every Friday at 8:00 a.m. the students participate in the Flag Deck Assembly.
Parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Transportation - Most children walk or ride bikes (bikes 1st-6th grades only). Please remember that helmets must be worn and bikes must be walked across the blacktop; nothing is to be left in the bike racks un-locked or overnight or on weekends. Andersen accepts no liability for items left overnight or weekend.

No skateboards are allowed on campus (NBPD CPC 602 (J)(K))

There is a designated carpool lane in the front of the school for drop-off. Please do not park in the “staff” parking lots. If you need to park, park on the street.

Rainy Days - Students may be dropped off after 7:45 a.m. and wait in their classroom until the bell rings.

Volunteer Opportunities - Andersen has very supportive parents whose volunteer work is needed and appreciated. Parents assist in the classroom, library, playground, and on many committees on a daily basis. Both PTA and DEANs provide ongoing communications and opportunities to join and get involved. Registration information is on the Andersen Website.

When coming onto the Andersen Campus you MUST come in through the front office, sign-in, and wear an “Andersen Visitor” sticker. For the safety of all students, there is no access from any other doors.

Fundraising - Both the PTA and DEANs support Andersen financially through fundraisers held during the year. PTA/DEANS fundraising programs include PTA eScrip, Jog-a-Bunga, Book Fairs, Box Tops for Education, the Annual DEANs’ Dinner Dance, DEANs Pumpkin Patch and more.

Fundraising allows our school to provide valuable programs such as Art, Science, PE, Technology, Certificated Teacher Specialists, Instructional Aides, Field Trips, Classroom enrichment and more.
